Active ingredients: Each 5 ml contains:
\nParacetamol 120 mg<\/p>\n
Mode of Action:
\nPanadrex Syrup contains Paracetamol which belongs to a group of medicines called analgesics and antipyretics. The mechanism of action is probably similar to that of aspirin and dependent on the selective inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis.<\/p>\n
Indications:
\n\u2022 Mild to moderate pain associated with toothache, headache, earache, backache, sore throat, dysmenorrhea, migraine, neuralgia, rheumatic ache, and teething pain.
\n\u2022 Fever associated with influenza, bacterial infection, inflammation, cold, and childhood infection like chickenpox, measles, mumps, and reactions to vaccinations.<\/p>\n
Posology:
\nChildren 6-12 years: 2-4 teaspoonful every 4-6 hours
\nChildren 1-6 years: 1-2 teaspoonful every 4-6 hours<\/p>\n
Precautions:
\n\u2022 Do not exceed the stated dose.
\n\u2022 Do not give more than 4 doses within 24 hours.
\n\u2022 Used with caution in patients with severe kidney or liver problems, alcoholic liver disease.
\n\u2022 Paracetamol overdose may cause liver failure.
\n\u2022 Patients should follow the advice of their doctor regarding its use in pregnancy. Available published data does not contraindicate breastfeeding.<\/p>\n
Contraindications:
\n\u2022 Hypersensitivity to the active substances (paracetamol) or any of the other excipients.
\n\u2022 If the patient takes other paracetamol-containing products.
\n\u2022 Fructose intolerance.
\n\u2022 Babies < 2 months.<\/p>\n
Undesirable effects:
\nSide effects of paracetamol are rare and usually mild, though hematological reactions including thrombocytopenia, leucopenia, pancytopenia, neutropenia, and agranulocytosis have been reported. Skin rash and other hypersensitivity reactions occur occasionally.<\/p>\n
Pharmacokinetic properties:
\n\u2022 Paracetamol is rapidly and almost completely absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. The concentration in plasma reaches a peak in 30 to 60 minutes and the plasma half-life is 1 \u2013 4 hours after therapeutic doses.
\n\u2022 Paracetamol is relatively uniformly distributed throughout most body fluids. Plasma protein binding is variable; 20 to 30% may be bound at the concentrations encountered during acute intoxication.
\n\u2022 Paracetamol is metabolized in the liver and excreted in the urine mainly as the glucuronide and sulphate conjugates, with about 10% as glutathione conjugates. Less than 5% is excreted as unchanged paracetamol.<\/p>\n
